The story
From an apartment in Menyet El Nasr to a delivery app
I'm Khalid Reda Namra, an Egyptian developer and the founder of the Wassel delivery app. The story didn't start in an office or a big company — it started in a small apartment in Menyet El Nasr, Dakahlia, next to Mansoura, with one laptop and a single question: why does delivery in Egypt have to stay chaotic?
I kept seeing people order food or medicine with no idea where the order was, when it would arrive, or who was responsible when something went wrong. And I kept seeing small restaurants lose customers simply because they had no serious delivery system behind them. That's where Wassel came from.
I built the first version myself — the customer app, the merchant dashboard and the rider app — and tested it in a very small area before expanding. Every feature in Wassel today came from a real complaint by a customer, a merchant or a rider.
The principle from day one is clarity: live tracking, a realistic ETA, support that answers in minutes, and fair income for the riders who do the real work.
